A Midsummer Celebration at Langston House
On a golden June evening, the gates of Langston House opened for the first time to welcome guests for a very special occasion. Hosted at Langston Retreat, the beautifully converted barn on the estate, the midsummer gathering brought together a vibrant community to celebrate local producers, explore the newly restored grounds, and raise vital funds for the Morvargh Sailing Project.
As a proud partner of Langston House, we were thrilled to attend this memorable event and see firsthand the transformation of this Grade II-listed Georgian farmhouse into a place of connection, creativity, and calm.
A Space Designed to Inspire
Inside the Langston Retreat studio, long candlelit tables were set for an unforgettable dinner. Chef Tom of Wild Garlic Devon delivered a stunning seasonal menu featuring produce from some of South Devon’s most respected names: Rare & Pasture Charcuterie, The Green Deli, Mount Folly Farm, Scobbiscombe Farm, Ben’s Farm Shop and Sevenstones Hogget. Every dish was a celebration of local flavour.

A well-stocked bar gave guests a further taste of the region, featuring Sharpham Wines from Sandridge Barton, Heron Valley Cider, Salcombe Gin, Hattiers Rum, Summerskills Brewery, and Luscombe Drinks.
Fundraising for the Future
At the heart of the evening was a shared goal: raising funds for the Morvargh Sailing Project, a local charity that supports young people through transformative sailing experiences. Thanks to the incredible generosity of guests, sponsors, and prize donors, the event raised over £6,500, a significant step toward the refit of their training vessel, Helen Mary R.
Founder Matt Barraud reflected:
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support from Langston and the local community. This event will help us continue providing life-changing experiences at sea for the young people who need it most.”
A True Community Effort
So many people came together to make the evening a success. Local sponsors included HPi Verification Services Ltd, Plymouth Yacht Haven, Greener Devon Renewables, Mr Builder Co SW, and Gala Pools. Raffle and auction prizes were donated by generous local businesses including The Land Devon, Little Moor Barn, Salcombe Gin, Cool Beans Coffee Bar, The Mess Room, The Guard Room and The Green Deli.
Discover Langston
The event was more than a fundraiser, it was a celebration of what Langston has become. With its Georgian farmhouse, indoor pool, cinema room, converted barn studio, and byre, this stunning estate now offers a one-of-a-kind retreat space set within acres of arable farmland that roll gently down to the South Devon coast.

Whether you’re planning a family holiday, a wellness retreat, or a private celebration, Langston House is a truly remarkable setting.
