The perfect place for a pick me up with a coffee and a croissant, excellent bacon paninis and some of the best afternoon tea and cake. Woodroast, Dartmouth Woodroast has some of the best coffee and homemade cakes in Dartmouth. This cafe sources its coffee from artisan roasters The Curator just down the road in Totnes, making it a great choice if you are looking for some truly local produce. After a blustery beach day on Blackpool Sands, warm up in Woodroast with a hot chocolate with all the trimmings and warm, freshly-baked banana bread. Smith Street Deli, Dartmouth Visit the Smith Street Deli on your day trip to Dartmouth and you will be impressed by a tasty menu, locally sourced produce and fabulous customer service. On a sunny day, you can opt for a takeaway ‘lunch box’ stacked full of delicious deli meat and cheeses to enjoy al fresco on the bank of the river. Beth's Bistro, Dartmouth After a morning stroll or swim, head over to Beth’s Bistro in Dartmouth for a traditional full English breakfast or a light lunch. If you are feeling a little more indulgent, why not opt for a traditional cream tea or some handmade cake? Dart Marina, Dartmouth For afternoon tea with a view, visit Dart Marina, a stylish hotel overlooking the River Dart. Starting at £33 per person for the luxury ‘Afternoon Tea Royale’, the Dart Marina offers smoked salmon sandwiches, handmade cakes, and fresh scones with Devon clotted cream. All are accompanied by a glass of fizz or a refreshing Hendricks Gin cucumber cocktail. Kingswear Pubs and Bars There are a couple of great pubs in Kingswear serving excellent ales and good pub food. Dartmouth, just across the river, has a wider selection of pubs and bars to choose from, so you certainly won’t be short of watering holes to visit during your stay! The Steam Packet Inn, Kingswear With its roots back in the 15th century, this historical pub could certainly tell some tales. Sitting adjacent to the village church, it’s a great spot for a pint at any time of year. Cosy up in front of the open fires during the cooler months and soak up the sun from the raised terrace in the spring and summer. The views across the river to Dartmouth and the Britannia Royal Naval College are fabulous. The Ship Inn, Kingswear Located in Outer Hope, the Hope and Anchor is owned and operated by the Cornish brewery, St Austell Brewery. In the summer months, you can enjoy dining outside, and when the weather turns cold, cosy up indoors with a hot beverage. The 18th-century Hope & Anchor is a great little retreat. It has plenty of Devonshire charm and its food and drink options are just as locally inspired. You can always trust the catch of the day to be excellent. What makes this pub especially great, is the fact that the beach is less than a minute’s walk away. Spend a day paddling in the water, relaxing on the shore, or taking a boat out, before relaxing in the Hope and Anchor and watching the sun set on another beautiful day in South Devon. Dolium Wine Bar and Tapas, Kingswear If you fancy sipping an Aperol Spritz overlooking glistening water and the glorious South Hams countryside, then Dolium is a must-visit. This lively Italian establishment is relatively new to the village but is already being dubbed Little Italy in South Devon. Browse the varied cocktail menu over antipasti and while away the hours watching the sun set over neighbouring Dartmouth. The Dartmouth Arms, Dartmouth The Dartmouth Arms is a cosy pub located directly across the water from Kingswear on the historic Bayards Cove in Dartmouth. Serving well-kept, local beers and homemade food, this establishment is a firm favourite for those after a more traditional pub in an attractive setting. Draught beers include Exmoor Ales Wicked Wolf, Otter Ale and Sharp’s Atlantic IPA. They also regularly switch up guest ales throughout the year.
