Fledgling Barn Overview

Set within five acres of rolling South Devon countryside, Fledgling Barn is a beautifully restored retreat where original character meets relaxed contemporary living. Surrounded by meadows, mature trees and peaceful woodland, it's the perfect place to slow down, reconnect and enjoy the best of both coast and countryside.

Inside, the barn is filled with natural light, where vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and warm natural textures create an inviting atmosphere throughout. Large windows frame beautiful countryside views, while a cosy window seat provides the perfect place to settle down with a book and watch the changing seasons unfold.

The spacious open-plan living area has been thoughtfully designed for spending time together. Comfortable seating surrounds the wood burner, creating a cosy space for cooler evenings, while the fully equipped kitchen makes everything from leisurely breakfasts to celebratory suppers a pleasure. The generous dining area overlooks the surrounding countryside, providing a wonderful setting for relaxed family meals after days spent exploring Devon.

A mezzanine gallery adds another unique feature to the barn, complete with a telescope for stargazing and countryside spotting, while the children's loft play area offers younger guests their own imaginative space to enjoy.

Fledgling Barn offers two beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with its own en suite shower room, providing comfort and privacy for couples or families travelling together. A separate utility room with washing machine offers plenty of space for walking boots, beach towels and wetsuits after days spent exploring the nearby coastline.

Outside, the private terrace is designed for making the most of the peaceful surroundings. An outdoor dining area, barbecue and firepit create the perfect setting for long summer lunches, relaxed evening meals and marshmallow toasting beneath star-filled skies.

Beyond the terrace, five acres of shared grounds invite guests to wander through wildflower meadows, explore woodland paths or simply find a quiet corner to enjoy the tranquillity. Families will love the freedom of the open space, while nature lovers can enjoy the abundance of birds and local wildlife throughout the seasons.

Guests also have access to The Nest, a beautifully designed shared workspace within the grounds, offering a peaceful environment for those needing to catch up on work or simply enjoy a quiet moment away with a coffee.

Perfectly positioned for exploring South Devon, Fledgling Barn is within easy reach of the stunning South Hams coastline, with beautiful beaches, hidden coves and the South West Coast Path all nearby. The vibrant towns of Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth offer an excellent choice of independent shops, cafés and restaurants, making every day as relaxing or adventurous as you choose.

Explore Kingsbridge

Kingsbridge Travel

How to get to Kingsbridge Kingsbridge is a beautiful Devon town in a stunning location, sitting at the head of the Salcombe estuary (which is actually a ria). This charming market town is loved by locals and visitors alike – and it just keeps giving! Think independent local shops, great deli cafes, award-winning restaurants and the beautiful quay with its moorings, popular with stand-up paddleboarders. The town has regular monthly farmers’ markets, arts and crafts markets in the town hall and some newly-emerging antique shops. So, you’ve booked your luxury holiday home in Kingsbridge and are considering how to get there, here’s a quick rundown of Kingsbridge travel options. Flying to Kingsbridge Exeter and Bristol airports are the closest. You can fly into Exeter from Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Guernsey, Dublin, Belfast  City, Jersey, Isles of Scilly and numerous European cities. Pick up a hire car and drive to Kingsbridge, which is about 45 miles away. If you arrive at Bristol airport (108 miles from Kingsbridge) you can pick up a hire car or get the train from Bristol to Totnes, then hop in a taxi to Kingsbridge or even take the number 164 bus.   Driving to Kingsbridge Travelling from Wales, Midlands and the north, you can drive down to Exeter using the M5 motorway. From London, you can either come along the M4 and join the M5 at Bristol or take the M3/A303/A30 route and join the M5 at Exeter. The M5 converges into the A38 where you take the right-hand lane for Haldon Hill. Kingsbridge is easily accessed from this dual carriageway which links Plymouth and Exeter. Continue along the road with the slopes of Dartmoor on your right until you reach signs for Totnes and Kingsbridge, the slip road to your left takes you onto the A384. You don’t drive through Totnes town (but worth a visit during your stay), instead follow the A381 signposted for Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. The drive from Bristol will take around 2 hours and around 4.5 hours from London, depending on traffic.  Kingsbridge by train Totnes is just 13 miles from Kingsbridge and it’s the nearest railway station with regular trains running from London Paddington, the north, Wales and Birmingham. The journey time from Bristol is 2 hours and it’s a swift 3 hours from London Paddington.  On arriving at Totnes station you can pick up a taxi, the fare is around £25-35 and it’s about a 30-minute ride to Kingsbridge. Taxi numbers During busy times we recommend pre-booking your cab as the taxi rank at Totnes can get quite busy with travellers waiting for their onward journey.
