Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve compiled a list of answers to common questions.

How do I book and do I have to pay a deposit?

If your holiday start date is more than 6 weeks away at the time of booking, we require a 25% deposit. Your 75% balance payment will then be due 6 weeks before the start of your holiday. Your security deposit card pre-authorisation will then be due 14 days before the start of your holiday.

If your holiday start date is less than 6 weeks away at the time of booking, we require full payment plus the security deposit card pre-authorisation.

What is the security deposit?

A security deposit in the form of a card pre-authorisation is applicable for all holiday homes either at the time of booking (if start date is less than  6 weeks away) or at 14 days before the start of your holiday. The security deposit pre-authorisation is held by Finest Stays to cover any losses, damage and/or additional cleaning charges if the property is left in an unsatisfactory condition. The security deposit pre-authorisation will be cancelled within 7-10 days of departure subject to deductions necessary by reason of your or any member of your party’s breach of your obligations as detailed in our booking conditions.

Where do I find out about the booking conditions?

Our booking conditions can be found here.

Can I book a Short Break?

Outside of the peak weeks (i.e. school holidays), we do accept short breaks for a weekend, long weekend or mid-week stay. These are subject to availability and are normally charged at between 50% and 85% of the weekly rate depending on day of the week and length of stay.

What time can I arrive and what time must I depart?

Our arrival time is from 4 pm and we would ask that you leave the property promptly by 10 am on departure day.

Do I need to bring my own bed linen and towels?

All our holiday homes are provided with linen plus a bath and hand towel per person. We do not provide beach towels so advise that these are brought with you. We do not provide linen for cots.

How do I access the holiday home?

Prior to your arrival, the Finest Stays team will email you details of how to access and find your holiday home. We use a system of digital keypads and key-safes in all of our holiday homes so you don’t have to worry about late arrivals or walking to an office for key collection.

Do you provide insurance?

We do not provide insurance for your holiday but as per our booking conditions, we do require you to have your own holiday insurance policy in place.

What are your Opening Hours?

Our office hours are 9 am – 5 pm Monday-Saturday all year round.

Do you include use of a cot and a high chair?

Where stated in our holiday home Finer Details sections, there may be cots and high chairs available for your use. Please note that you will need to bring your own bedding for cots.

Do you have any dog friendly holiday homes?

Yes, there are a small number of holiday homes that welcome dogs – please contact the Finest Stays team for specific information, or look at the Dog Friendly collection.

How do I find out about tides?

There is a brilliant smartphone app available called Salcombe App which will give you details of the Salcombe tides for 6 days (times of high and low tide plus the depth changes). Download it for free by searching ‘Salcombe App’ in the Apple app store.
