Woodspring Overview

Available during the July and August weeks, Woodspring sits on Bowcombe Creek which forms part of the popular Salcombe-Kingsbridge estuary. With lots of toys available in Woodspring’s boat house for guest use (including wetsuits, life jackets, boating waterproofs, fishing gear, and 2 paddle boards) this is a home with lots to do for everyone. A Swedish wood-fired hot tub in front of the house and a private gym in the basement add to the fantastic facilities of Woodspring.

Set within two acres of gardens and woodland this is an exceptional architect designed south-facing house. That means all day sunshine for the residents of Woodspring – perfect for an alfresco breakfast in the morning, or that all important evening sundowner overlooking the estuary. For evenings under the stars, there is an open fire and a beautiful wood fired oven nestled in the garden under the trees, perfect for long lazy lunches or feasting in to the evening. Toasting marshmallows and finding your inner Jamie Oliver is a must in this truly magical new area at Woodspring. Or why not fire up the hot tub and enjoy a glass of bubbles with a spectacular view?

As you walk up the steps from the parking area you will enter the main wing of Woodspring. The large open plan kitchen, indoor dining, and seating area are flawless in design. The indoor dining area can seat up to 12 making it perfect for entertaining and socialising. Two dishwashers in the kitchen keep the washing up at bay and a large drinks fridge can store up to 30 bottles of your favourite red and white wines. You will also find a DeLonghi coffee machine and Ariete filter coffee peculator in the main kitchen.

Next door to this open plan area is a living room with phenomenal views through large glass sliding windows down the estuary. If you can take your eyes off the view, there is a large television with Apple TV, Sky and DVD. And leading down the beautifully curved stairs you will find the incredible media/cinema room with a 60″ screen and home cinema sound system. Again there is Apple TV, Sky, and DVD, player with a huge library of children’s DVD’s. To help create your perfect cinema night, there are even two drinks fridges ready for you to fill. Also on this level you will find the private gym which has weights, a bike, a cross trainer, kettle bells, sit-up station and swiss ball.

Running along the front of Woodspring are huge sliding glass doors which lead out to various dining and seating areas along with an outdoor barbecuing station and a wood-fired hot tub. The outside dining table is large enough to seat 16 guests for alfresco dining with views over Bowcombe bridge and up the Salcombe-Kingsbridge estuary. The Sonos built in sound system runs in the main parts of the house and on the terraces.

Outside there are gardens and woodland to explore with lovely pathways that run through the woods for plenty of exploring and wildlife hunting. Or take the pace down a notch and enjoy a game of boules on the lawn with a little drink in hand.

Next to main lawn nestled under the trees, you will find a wonderful oasis of calm where you can wile away the hours with your loved ones, eating, drinking and cooking in Woodspring’s stunning wood fired oven cooking area. If day turns to night, throw some logs on the open fire, then relax and enjoy a cosy evening under the stars; truly magical.

There are two wings to Woodspring and the main proportion contains the primary living spaces plus four bedrooms on the first floor. Each of the four bedrooms has their own en suite bathroom and three of the bedrooms have spectacular views over the estuary. The master bedroom with super king bed has Sky TV and a bags of space and light. In the morning slide back the large glass windows and breathe in the sea air from your Juliette balcony. There are two further super king bedrooms with their own balconies and outdoor seating areas. There is also another super king bedroom with spectacular estuary views.

In the annexe wing, there are three bedrooms – two kingsize and one twin room. There is a large family bathroom for the annexe wing plus it has its own Italian hideaway kitchen and DeLonghi coffee machine. The open plan living space contains the kitchen, dining and living areas. The dining table seats four and there is an outdoor dining table plus sun loungers on the terrace.

No smoking in the house. Two well behaved dogs allowed. Allergies: please note that dogs have been in Woodspring.

Please note that there are security cameras at the property but these are only located outside and will be turned off at the base unit during your stay so will not be recording anything.

We thoroughly loved the house and its views. The terrace was fabulous as was the wood fire area. We enjoyed the pool, paddle boards, table tennis, croquet, pizza oven and hot tub! So much to do.

August 2025
This was easily a 5* rating from us, after as near to a perfect week possible with our extended family in the beautiful surroundings of Woodspring. We have stayed as a whole family group in similar large properties before, but nothing quite like Woodspring with its generous accommodation and pretty much every possible whim catered for, ensuring relaxed days just drinking in the views. We’re convinced that Woodspring, or maybe Bowcombe Creek has its own micro-climate as even in the mornings we were sitting outside for breakfast.

August 2025
We really, enjoyed our stay - best holiday ever! We have stayed in some beautiful houses in UK/ Mallorca/ New Zealand and this has to be the best equipped. Had absolutely everything. Children were never bored, although we had a lot of rain at the beginning of week could still sit outside due to overhang. Boys did lots of fishing/crabbing/ paddle boarding and jumping off the bridge. Coastal concierge were very quick to respond when lights fused. Finest stays good communication. Hot tub guy and gardener very friendly. Pizza oven amazing.Had a couple of cinema nights. Gorgeous views. Very generous welcome pack and fresh flowers.

We had a fantastic stay at Woodspring. Can be nothing other than a 5 star review. We used all the facilities and had a great time. Enjoyed by all, age group 16 to 85 plus 2 dogs. It was an added bonus that the large garden was dog proof - the two dogs also had a fantastic time. A truly beautiful house, perfect for a large group. Lovely welcome pack as well, thoroughly enjoyed the Whispering Angel! Many thanks for the opportunity to stay at this beautiful house.

September 2023
We would like to thank you for making our stay at Woodspring so special. All 14 of us age varying from 10 - 73 loved the house and all it had to offer. Everything had been thought of to make our holiday special like the Sonos in every area to the games and cocktail bar. We took advantage of the gym, the pool table and table tennis. The media room hosted film nights we even did karaoke. The hot tub was great when coming back from a day at the beach. I’m a chef so the kitchen was a big part for me and was fully equipped with everything I needed to cook for all of us and the beautiful seating areas inside and out with views of the estuary.
