SUP Walk

Estuary Watersports 

The estuary offers the perfect opportunity to get on the water. In the summer, the calm waters make it ideal for stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking. Rent a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) with Waterborn and experience it for yourself. 

Waterborn offers SUP lessons and even runs SUP yoga sessions, for those who are feeling especially brave! The friendly team of instructors are keen to help you and your family get active in Kingsbridge and are all BSUPA (British Stand Up Paddleboarding Association) accredited and first aid qualified.

If you want to explore more of the South Hams, take part in a SUP WALK adventure. The bespoke guided tours offer a great way to see more of the local area and learn about the waterways between Kingsbridge and Salcombe. 

 

Kingsbridge Estuary Boat Club also have boat hire services available, where you can hire a range of vessels, from canoes to sailing boats and ribs. The club is keen to bring together all members of the community to experience the water and all that it has to offer.

Sign up for the relaxing Bowcombe Creek Evening Paddle and experience something a little different. As the sun sets, you will be in with the chance of seeing all sorts of wildlife emerge from the sides of the creek.

 

Beach Watersports

Near Kingsbridge, there are many great beaches and watersports opportunities. At South Milton Sands, for example, you can try your hand at windsurfing and kayaking. The shape of the bay makes it perfect for both activities. If you are really wanting to show off, navigate through the rock arch just offshore! 

If you are looking for a guided activity, Sea Kayak Devon offers sea kayak trips and courses for people of all abilities and ages. You can even spend a whole day on the water with their Coastal Discovery course. Sea Kayak Devon is located in Dartmouth, just a thirty-minute drive from Kingsbridge. 

If you are chasing the surf, head to Bantham beach. Bantham has both mellow waves for beginners and some speedy currents and breaks (caused by the nearby mouth of the River Avon) for more experienced surfers. There are seasonal lifeguards on the beach.
