If water sports float your boat then Plymouth certainly delivers with a fabulous waterfront location and outstanding activities to explore from relaxing paddle boarding and kayaking to adrenaline fused wake boarding and coasteering. Britain’s Ocean City ticks all the boxes.

The main area for water sports in Plymouth is at Mount Batten, the activity centre here offers powerboating,  RYA sailing and windsurfing from half a day to week long courses catering for all abilities from beginners to advanced. The waters and nearby coves around Plymouth provide excellent opportunities for canoeing and kayaking and the Sound has some of the best dive sites in the UK for both shallow dives and wreck diving.

Mount Batten Water Sports & Activities

Mount Batten sits on the tidal estuary and has the most amazing views towards the historic Barbican and the Hoe. The location is perfect for both children and adults of all abilities to get out on the water and have fun. With an excellent safety record and an experienced team at the helm, the centre offers courses in powerboating,  RYA sailing, windsurfing for both beginners and those with more experience.

Kayaking in Plymouth

Haven’t tried kayaking or paddle boarding before? Now’s the time to do it… book  a two-hour ‘try session’ and get out on the water. The centre will provide all the equipment so you just need a towel and suitable shoes. Alternatively, why not join one of their kayak tours and explore the waters of Plymouth Sound and view Plymouth’s waterfront from the sea. If you’re planning to do your first PADI Open Water Course or would like to train to be an instructor, charter a hard boat or want to dive HMS Scylla, Aquanauts is the place.  Their staff are all fully qualified hard boat skippers and diving instructors, on hand to guide you through your course or training.
