Welcome to Upalong, our exquisite retreat for 10 guests set in East Portlemouth, Salcombe. Upalong epitomises coastal life at its very finest. Sitting amidst the backdrop of breathtaking vistas of the Salcombe estuary and the rolling Devon countryside, your dream holiday begins here.

Upalong is nestled in a truly stunning setting, with a private pathway down to the beach and twinkling panoramic ocean views worth writing home about. This is an utterly private location which offers an unparalleled sense of privacy and seclusion. Located in an idyllic village, this exquisite six bedroomed home is surrounded by lush green woodland and six acres of grounds and gardens for you to explore. Wander barefoot through the winding pathways to the beach and private mooring below, so you can spend the day on the water and return home with ease. Then there is the heated swimming pool, the sauna and the hot tub - all yours whenever you please. With something for everyone here, you will really be pushed to stray from this divine setting.

As you approach Upalong through its securely gated entrance, you're greeted by its pretty courtyard and Spanish style veranda. Step inside the bright hallway where you will access the gourmet kitchen, a beautiful family space with the comforting AGA holding centre stage. An American style refrigerator, walk in pantry, Miele coffee machine, and entertaining island, together with a family dining table and sofa and doors opening out to the glorious balcony awaits you here. A lazy cooked breakfast and freshly brewed coffee drinking in that view and sea breeze is an absolute delight.

Through here, you will find the bright and airy sitting room with gorgeous sofas, a cosy wood burner and double doors opening out to a balcony with panoramic views of the ever changing scenes on the water. Listen to the evening birdsong and let the soft summer breeze in. This is the perfect spot for total relaxation as you unwind after days spent exploring the coastline. What's more, there also a second bright sunny family lounge, with two extra large sofas to flop and relax and fresh coastal new England style furnishings. Look out to sea with your own telescope to watch all the boating activity on the stunning Salcombe estuary. Step out on to the spectacular grand terrace with luxury sun loungers for reclining and drinking in the sun, a sunken hot tub for indulging in that glass of champagne and a myriad of tables and chairs for outside dining. Seek out the extra large gas barbecue for sizzling summer suppers dining al fresco under the stars. Be sure to make the most of the delicious local produce and pick up some fresh seafood straight off of the boat.

Across the hallway is a soft and soothing toned super king size bedroom with double doors opening on to a sunny balcony. Complete with twin vanity basins, loo and shower, this private haven is the perfect place to wake up to a morning cup of tea gazing at the water and morning sunrise.

Stepping downstairs to the lower ground floor there is a useful housekeepers cupboard with ironing board and steam iron, leading to a charming colourful children's bedroom with a double and single bed, infant cot and an essential spacious family shower room, WC and sink - perfect for washing those sandy toes after a day on the beach. This floor also has a beautiful self contained bedroom suite with sofa and french doors to terrace and a useful utility area with handy sink and an additional washer/dryer. Step up from this space to cloakroom cupboards and boot area with useful practical hanging space for those sailing coats and dry robes. On this floor you will also find a kitchenette with the all important wine fridge as well as an oven, induction hob and full sized fridge and freezer. This really is the perfect place for those who want a little time away from the action. Climb back up on the winding staircase back to the main hallway.

Upstairs across the galleried landing passing a bookcase full of interesting reads is a sunny bright king size bedroom with ample storage and a window overlooking that glorious water view. From this hallway the peaceful sanctuary of the master bedroom is reached, again with a pretty window gazing over the beautiful estuary. With useful shelving/dressing area for shoes and clothing this spacious room with a super king size bed leads on to a luxuriously appointed bathroom with WC, marble topped twin sinks and a deep bath to soak away those aching limbs. On this floor is a further spacious bedroom with two sets of bunk beds to keep the family happy close by.

Upalong is located on the other side of the estuary to Salcombe - a short 5 minute ferry ride to the other side and you will be in Salcombe or use your boat to hop across with the tides. From the house there are plenty of gorgeous walks to try (the coastal path to Gara Rock is a favourite, especially if you grab a spot of lunch there).
