Thurlestone Pubs and Bars It's always good to have a village pub nearby, somewhere for a light lunch or an evening meal. If you’re planning a holiday in Thurlestone, you’re in for a treat, there’s an excellent pub right in the heart of the village which is a firm favourite with both locals and visitors to the area. Nearby Hope Cove also has a couple of excellent pubs, just a 20-minute walk along the coast path or a few minutes’ drive. Head towards Bantham, again along the coastal path or by car and stop off at The Sloop, a charming traditional inn. The Village Inn Thurlestone A great little pub packed with character. This popular dog friendly inn serves up delicious gastro pub dishes in the rustic bar or in the comfort of the cosy lounge with its squashy leather sofas and roaring fire. A great family and dog friendly local. The Cove If you love beer you’ll love The Cove! They have a massive range of with over fifty beers, ales, and ciders on offer and hold the award for the UK’s Best Independent Craft Beer Bar. The pub is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a great menu of fajitas, burgers, pizzas and seafood specials. A sociable pub with a great atmosphere and live music. The Hope and Anchor A charming 18th-century pub serving excellent food and a wine list to match. The Hope and Anchor is just up from the beach in Outer Hope and is a great spot for lunch. Relax on the terrace overlooking the sea. Dine on gastro pub classics; burger, moules and frites, steak and freshly caught lobster and crab. Perfect for families too with a special kid’s menu of pasta, sausages and fish goujons. This dog friendly pub also serves some of the best beer around! Hope Cove House Hope Cove House overlooks the beach at Inner Hope. It is a cosy bolthole with a seasonal, ever-changing menu. The small restaurant is open for lunch between 12 – 2.30 pm Wednesday to Saturday throughout the Spring and Summer months. After a swim, indulge and replenish at Hope Cove House. The beach bar is open from 10-6 pm Wednesday – Saturday for coffee, drinks and snacks. Its beautiful interiors complement the idyllic surroundings perfectly and the wine and beer lists have been carefully curated with local suppliers in mind. Whether you decide to hike along the coast path or book a cab, be sure to reserve your table first! If you’re looking for a laid-back beachside shack, The Beach House is a must. For a more formal affair, try Sunday Lunch at The Trevilder at Thurlestone Hotel, great dining with far reaching sea views across the sands to Thurlestone Rock. Request a table by the window! It’s just a 25 minute stroll along the coast path to Hope Cove. Not only is the walk fabulous (sea views all the way) but there are some excellent places to stop for lunch too! Hope Cove has a couple of family friendly pubs serving excellent seafood and woodfired pizzas. For beachside dining, check out the Lobster Pods - these quirky glass domes overlooking the beach and perfect for a get together with friends and family. The Trevilder Fine dining experience at the Trevilder Restaurant, serving up fresh and seasonal dishes and an extensive wine list to match. Starters include Start Bay Scallops or smoked chicken followed by West Country filet steak, Dover Sole on the bone or Mediterranean vegetable tart. If you fancy a treat, they also serve Devon traditional afternoon teas. Hope Cove House Laid back dining with a boho vibe, this great little restaurant with its cool contemporary interiors serves up some of the best seasonal cuisine in the area. Dine on Salcombe scallops, crispy bream or clams with chilli and garlic. The churros with chocolate sauce are pretty good too! As for the location, it’s spot on - just relax on the terrace overlooking the bay. They also have a cool beach bar which is open from 10am-6pm for coffee, snacks and drinks to keep you going while you’re on the beach. The Cove Whenever we visit Hope, The Cove is always buzzing! This vibrant pub is just a stone’s throw from the beach and home to one of the best craft beer bars around. This lively bar is popular with both locals and holidaymakers and it’s easy to see why. Dining out at The Cove is a real treat with Devon moules, burgers, fajitas, excellent fish and chips and their famous seafood platter on the menu… all washed down with a pint of craft beer. Relax on the terrace in the sunshine during the summer months and cosy up by the wood burning stove on dark winter evenings. The Cove is also well known for its live music nights so you can enjoy a toe-tapping evening or get up and boogie! The Hope and Anchor Right in the hub of the village, the Hope & Anchor is a stone’s throw from the beach. This St. Austell Brewery traditional pub offers excellent dining and some of the best beer around. The extensive menu is a combo of re-defined pub classics and burgers, from moules and frites, steak and a pork pie ploughmans to fabulous fresh local crab and lobster. There’s also a great kids’ menu serving up sausages, fish goujons and pasta. This dog-friendly hostelry has smart contemporary interiors, a first-floor terrace, and a deck with awesome sea views!
