Beautifully renovated with thoughtful coastal touches, Waterhead Cottage comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests across five spacious bedrooms, all with charming water or countryside views. The property is also dog friendly, making it ideal for families wanting to bring their four-legged companions along for the adventure.

Accessed via a private track, the cottage opens into a light and airy hallway with a practical boot room designed for coastal living. Here you’ll find a Belfast sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and plenty of space for wellies, dry robes and beach gear after days by the water.

The fully equipped kitchen features a modern range oven, kitchen island, dishwasher, additional Smeg refrigerator and wine chiller, perfect for preparing relaxed family meals using fresh seafood from Salcombe. The generous dining table seats ten comfortably, while plush sofas and armchairs invite everyone to gather and unwind after a day of adventure.

For quieter moments, a cosy family snug with woodburner, Smart TV and beanbags offers a relaxed space to watch a film, read a book or simply unwind.

Upstairs you’ll find four further bedrooms, all enjoying pretty waterside views. Each room has ample storage and thoughtful details such as reading lamps, artwork and charming antique touches.

Also on the first floor are a luxury family bathroom with bath and starry tiles, perfect for soaking tired legs after coastal walks, as well as an additional family shower room.

Outside, Waterhead Cottage offers a private garden and wraparound terrace with outdoor seating, ideal for long alfresco meals or relaxed evenings watching the changing light across the estuary. A traditional Asado grill provides the perfect excuse for barbecues, with local produce from Salcombe’s butchers and fishmongers making every meal feel special.

Waterhead Cottage Location

Tucked away on the Southern Coast of Devon you will find Salcombe: an iconic seaside town renowned for it’s picturesque harbour, sun-soaked beaches and captivating coastlines. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Salcombe has been a holiday hot-spot for generations, proving a paradise for all the ages. Whether you’re looking to ride wild waters, hike through enchanting landscapes or simply lounge on golden sands, Salcombe will not disappoint.

Lining the beach is a vibrant harbour-side town brimming with treats from independent shops, restaurants and bars. This is where tourists and locals come together to create the cheerful atmosphere that Salcombe is famous for: after all, if your only concern is which food to try next or which beach to explore, you’ve got a reason to be cheerful.

Waterhead Cottage is located on the other side of the estuary to Salcombe - a short 5 minute ferry ride to the other side and you will be in Salcombe. From the house there are plenty of gorgeous walks to try (the coastal path to Gara Rock is a favourite, especially if you grab a spot of lunch there).

We had an excellent week in Waterhead cottage. The house was amazing and perfect for an extended family, the communal spaces were perfect and the kitchen was well equipped, we had fantastic weather and made use of the bbq and kayaks. I would recommend the cottage, the only negative point that i can make is that there was no coffee machine.

Thank you for a lovely relaxing family weekend at Waterhead Cottage. The weather was kind and we managed a couple of long walks, as well as time watching the local wildlife from the cottage. We even managed breakfast on the terrace. We found the cottage very comfortable and well equipped, and of course the location on the water's edge is perfect and very peaceful.

The cottage is in a beautiful location - hard to beat, and is nicely finished. The use of kayaks was brilliant and the kids loved it.

The property is absolutely beautiful & extremely well appointed with everything you need & more. The surroundings are idyllic, nestled in a valley right on the estuary. My husband enjoyed fishing the estuary only a few steps from the cottage. The Salcombe coastline & beautiful beaches are a short car ride away & definitely worth a visit, a short ferry ride will take you to Salcombe town.

Thank you for your follow up email, we had a really lovely holiday in Waterhead Cottage. The standard of accomodation was exceptional in our view. The obviously new renovations and associated attention to detail will no doubt delight visitors to Waterhead Cottage in the future. It was perfect for our expectation of a holiday in Devon. The linen was of high quality, the kitchen was very well equipped and the standard of cleaning prior to our arrival was excellent. We loved the provision of family games, books (including recipe books to inspire), use of kayaks, wood for barbecues and well positioned hose pipe for cleaning kit and feet! The children loved the table tennis table.

Thank you we had the most wonderful time at Waterhead cottage. The property has been renovated to the highest of standards, in fact I could live there as everything was to my taste and style. The soft furnishings and bed linen were superb as were all the beds and bathrooms. We were entertaining for 15 people over the weekend and there was nothing missing in terms of kitchen equipment, even a cocktail shaker! It was the most perfect property in the most perfect place and all my family and friends agreed. We would definitely book it again. Thank you for

We really enjoyed our stay at Waterhead Cottage . The house was very comfortable and clean and obviously it is in a very special location. We had a great time kayaking on the creek too. Overall the house is well equipped. The trek up and down the path was a challenge but once we had got our heads round it i.e. only going out and back once a day it was doable ! We would like to stay here again in the future for sure.

A little love message to say how much we enjoyed being at Waterhead cottage this week, truly the most enjoyable stay, everything was absolutely perfect. We have stayed at the cottage in various time frames over the last 30 years and what you have achieved with the latest renovation is faultless It’s always a pleasure watching the waters ebbs and flows, the swans, the hares and birds all busying about their day, such a magical spot

We had the most amazing time at the cottage and would give it 5 stars without a doubt. It’s in such a beautiful location it seemed a shame to ever leave even for day trips! We really appreciated having access to the kayaks that was the icing on the cake. The house is beautifully designed/laid out and everything has been thought of.

We really did have such a lovely time at Waterhead Cottage. It’s a beautiful place, we made good use of the kayaks & the dogs absolutely loved being so close to the water! The house literally had everything! The cupboards were fully stocked & the quality of everything within the cottage was of such a high standard, there seemed to be no expense spared & it felt very luxurious. Exactly how you want a holiday to be!
