Colby Cottage Overview

Located only a short distance from the Salcombe-Kingsbridge estuary, and close to so many famous sandy beaches in south Devon, this is a unique cottage simply perfect for the family.

Set in the grounds of West Charleton Grange, there are so many wonderful things to do with the family. The indoor swimming pool will be an absolute hit with the children as will the trampoline, slide, climbing frame, sit on tractors and football pitch. A tennis court (also with basketball hoop) and outdoor table tennis will keep even the most competitive families entertained!

On the ground floor are the two bedrooms; the first is a beautiful master bedroom with king sized Rest Assured divan bed, carved pine furniture, built in wardrobe, tongue and groove panelling and blackout blind. The en suite shower room includes a Heritage white classic suite, tumbled stone tiled shower enclosure and heated towel rail.

The second bedroom is a twin with stylish groove panelling and blackout blind. The en suite bathroom is simply gorgeous with a bath and pressurised drench head shower over, hand basin, WC, underfloor heating and heated towel rail with tumbled stone tiles.

Step out from ground floor hallway onto a very large, sheltered, private terrace with table, chairs & umbrella, and two sun loungers on the stone paving for catching those rays of sunshine. The terrace to Colby Cottage leads straight out onto the large, enclosed grass playfield.

Explore the grounds (try to find the secret garden) and enjoy the comfortable outside seating areas for evening drinks, or eating al fresco. For larger gatherings, The Folly is a gorgeous entertaining space and we can help suggest private chefs for special occasions (please note that use of the Folly is an additional £150). Or simply prepare the popcorn, and enjoy a Hollywood blockbuster on the big screen inside.

2 x well-behaved dogs allowed at extra charge

No smoking inside the cottage.

Allergies: dogs have been inside the cottage.

?Please note that due to the pool being powered by solar panels, the pool temperature can fluctuate

We had a great stay at the cottage. Its location was wonderful with walks straight from the house and easy access to local beaches. The play garden was perfect for our 2 year old. He adored the trampoline, tractors and baby house. Indoor pool was a bit bracing in March! The cottage itself was exactly as described, very homely and well presented. Communication with the managers was good.

We loved our stay at Colby Cottage. The grounds were absolutely stunning and our boys really made the most of all the facilities - swimming, football, trampoline, cricket, table tennis, tennis.....the lot. It was the perfect base for us. Finding and accessing the cottage was all straight-forward We found the cottage clean and well-presented, it had everything we needed.

Kingsbridge Travel

How to get to Kingsbridge Kingsbridge is a beautiful Devon town in a stunning location, sitting at the head of the Salcombe estuary (which is actually a ria). This charming market town is loved by locals and visitors alike – and it just keeps giving! Think independent local shops, great deli cafes, award-winning restaurants and the beautiful quay with its moorings, popular with stand-up paddleboarders. The town has regular monthly farmers’ markets, arts and crafts markets in the town hall and some newly-emerging antique shops. So, you’ve booked your luxury holiday home in Kingsbridge and are considering how to get there, here’s a quick rundown of Kingsbridge travel options. Flying to Kingsbridge Exeter and Bristol airports are the closest. You can fly into Exeter from Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Guernsey, Dublin, Belfast  City, Jersey, Isles of Scilly and numerous European cities. Pick up a hire car and drive to Kingsbridge, which is about 45 miles away. If you arrive at Bristol airport (108 miles from Kingsbridge) you can pick up a hire car or get the train from Bristol to Totnes, then hop in a taxi to Kingsbridge or even take the number 164 bus.   Driving to Kingsbridge Travelling from Wales, Midlands and the north, you can drive down to Exeter using the M5 motorway. From London, you can either come along the M4 and join the M5 at Bristol or take the M3/A303/A30 route and join the M5 at Exeter. The M5 converges into the A38 where you take the right-hand lane for Haldon Hill. Kingsbridge is easily accessed from this dual carriageway which links Plymouth and Exeter. Continue along the road with the slopes of Dartmoor on your right until you reach signs for Totnes and Kingsbridge, the slip road to your left takes you onto the A384. You don’t drive through Totnes town (but worth a visit during your stay), instead follow the A381 signposted for Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. The drive from Bristol will take around 2 hours and around 4.5 hours from London, depending on traffic.  Kingsbridge by train Totnes is just 13 miles from Kingsbridge and it’s the nearest railway station with regular trains running from London Paddington, the north, Wales and Birmingham. The journey time from Bristol is 2 hours and it’s a swift 3 hours from London Paddington.  On arriving at Totnes station you can pick up a taxi, the fare is around £25-35 and it’s about a 30-minute ride to Kingsbridge. Taxi numbers During busy times we recommend pre-booking your cab as the taxi rank at Totnes can get quite busy with travellers waiting for their onward journey.
