Our dog friendly coastal retreat in Thurlestone is the ultimate escape for families hoping to stay just moments from the beach!

Make the most of the easy access to the South West coastal path directly from the back garden, and just a few minutes stroll to arguably the most beautiful beaches in the country. A holiday at Avon Rock would mean you'd never actually need to get in the car!

Benefitting from oodles of natural light, this stylish holiday home incorporates dining (seating eight), the kitchen – its cabinetry coloured a fresh De Nimes Blue by Farrow and Ball – and a separate sitting room with roaring log burner. To best suit families or groups of friends, the bedrooms cater to all generations, with a spacious king room, two twin bedrooms (one that can also be a super king) and and a children's room with bunk beds!

Outside is a fantastically large enclosed garden, perfect for children and dogs to run and play freely. Cook up a storm in the kitchen or fire up the charcoal BBQ and gather together around the outdoor table and chairs for a feast alfresco. With the ocean just beyond, the sea air and jam-packed days spent exploring the coast will have children exhausted, but there's still time for a dip in the hot tub before bed!

Store body boards, snorkels, flippers and wetsuits in the outside hut and pull out the sun loungers for a spot of relaxing on those sun soaked days in the garden, toes still sandy from the beach. There is private parking for up to 5 cars making it hassle free and easy for everyone to come and go whenever they please.

With an abundance of independent shops and world-class eateries, the villages of South Devon are a natural magnet. A best kept secret amongst many families who have been holidaying here for generations, Thurlestone really is the place to be for multi generational family holidays where both coast and country can be explored.

Stay at Avon Rock and you can wake to the smell of salty sea air and wander the beaches just a gentle 15 minute stroll from the door. It's just a short drive to get to the exquisite Bantham Beach - here families can learn to surf, stand up paddle board or take a kayak tour through crystal clear waters (keep your eyes peeled for some incredible wildlife.) Be within touching distance of South Milton Sands too, a breathtakingly beautiful beach with the renowned Beachhouse (a Condé Nast best loved local seafood restaurant) which welcomes barefooted families and salty sea dogs to sit and watch over the beautiful ocean horizon.

All generations will be catered for in Thurlestone, with fabulous pubs, the best selection of beaches, a tennis club and golf course, ancient woodlands, sunken lanes and tracks and trails for hiking or cycling, and gorgeous shops for an afternoon of retail therapy. Watersport enthusiasts will be hard pressed to find a holiday home that serves them better than Avon Rock, ideally situated for all kayaking, paddle boarding, surfing or sailing adventures with the family.

When you arrive, a complimentary bottle of wine will be waiting for you to pop open and retreat to the garden or hunker down in front of the fire!

A hot tub can be added to your stay (additional cost) just ask the team when making your booking and we will arrange for it to be ready ahead of your stay.

Two dogs are very welcome at Avon Rock. Please note there is an additional cost for dogs added to a booking. Please don't let dogs upstairs. Dogs will simply adore the large lawned garden perfect for running about. There are hundreds of coastal walks from the front door too!
