Sanderling Overview

Sanderling has soared into the sublime with a recent interiors overhaul by the talented Joanna Tucker. Blending sumptuous fabrics with calming coastal style, this is a bright and breezy holiday home that will delight all that stay. The cottage is just perfect for couples or a small family looking for a high end coastal retreat.

Situated close to Island Street (which is the artisanal area of Salcombe), you are only a short, level stroll to where you can buy freshly baked croissants and your paper in the morning, or find local pubs and restaurants in the evening. Nearby access to the waterfront means you can easily nip on to your paddle board for a sunrise SUP.

Climbing up the steps to the front door, there is a charming bench and table outside to make the most of the morning sunshine with a cup of tea and a freshly baked croissant. Stepping inside there is a beautifully proportioned open plan kitchen and living area. The bright and well-equipped kitchen (with a wine fridge of course) will be the focus of mealtimes with seating around the kitchen island. Next to the kitchen is a cloakroom with WC and combination washer/dryer.

The comfortable seating area has a very smart electric fireplace for cooler nights, and the piece of artwork above is actually a television! Doors lead out to a fantastic courtyard area with all the al fresco dining kit you could possibly wish for! Firstly a comfortable seating area – perhaps for sundowners – and an outdoor hot shower which is the place to wash off sandy paws and salty bodies after a day on the beach.

Protecting the outdoor dining area is a purpose-built gazebo with lighting and heating for the cooler evenings, plus a gas BBQ, charcoal BBW, and pizza oven to help you get creative with your cooking options.

Upstairs are two gorgeous bedrooms and bathrooms. The generous master bedroom (king size) with its beautiful calming tones has an ensuite bathroom of dreams. The use of space to fit in a free-standing bath and a shower is so clever; we know you’ll want to soak in that tub for hours! There are distance views of the creek from the Juliet balcony so you can check what the tides are doing each morning.

The second bedroom (double) is equally as elegant and has a shower room next door to it. Both bedrooms have a ceiling fan to keep cool on those summer nights.

No smoking allowed inside the property.

2 x well behaved dogs allowed at the discretion of the owners with an additional charge per dog.

Parking Information

The owners have provided 1 x parking permit for the long stay car park in Salcombe. Creek Car Park is in operation 1st April - 30th September; use Shadycombe Car Park outside these dates. Please ensure you return the permit to the property at the end of your stay.

For any additional parking, there is free parking along Devon Road - spaces are not guaranteed but usually you can find something given a little patience! If you head along Devon Road (going towards North Sands rather than the end closer to town), there are some spaces under the trees which are not time restricted.

A lovely house well located on the corner of Island Street close to the Co-op and the Salcombe Tap House. Decorated and fitted out to a high standard this property, although a little cramped for four adults, is in an ideal location for strolling in to Salcombe and walking the dog to Batson Creek. Excellent showers, good quality towels and bed linen, good kitchen facilities with good quality cutlery and crockery.

Sanderling is a super little house which has been fitted out with enormous care. The beds, sofa and chairs are all very comfortable, the outside space really makes the house, the heater and lights mean that even on a chilly or rainy day the large outside table can be used, and the bench at the front was lovely for morning coffee in the sunshine! The ceiling fans in the bedrooms were very welcome. Thank you!

Easy check-in, the place was spotless! Fabulous location at the end of island street, so easy flat walk into town, which is a godsend in Salcombe. The property is lovely, modern, well kitted out with lovely outside spaces. The bedrooms are light and airy and beds are super comfy. Would certainly recommend and would for sure book again if we ever return to Salcombe.

We had another fabulous stay in Salcombe via Finest Stays. Sanderling was every bit as lovely as it looked from the photos. It’s not easy to find truly dog friendly holiday homes and cottages that are still a luxury home from home but Finest Stays have managed to hunt these homes down to make it super easy for people like us to find the balance of luxury and dog friendly. A great holiday cottage in a really convenient location in Salcombe being just a short stroll into town and a few yards from the Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream Parlour! Property is furnished with high quality fittings throughout and beds are top quality. Outdoor entertaining area is really well thought through and use of the Pizza oven is highly recommended.
