Kingswear Pubs and Bars
There are a couple of great pubs in Kingswear serving excellent ales and good pub food. Dartmouth, just across the river, has a wider selection of pubs and bars to choose from, so you certainly won’t be short of watering holes to visit during your stay!

The Steam Packet Inn, Kingswear
With its roots back in the 15th century, this historical pub could certainly tell some tales. Sitting adjacent to the village church, it’s a great spot for a pint at any time of year. Cosy up in front of the open fires during the cooler months and soak up the sun from the raised terrace in the spring and summer. The views across the river to Dartmouth and the Britannia Royal Naval College are fabulous.

The Ship Inn, Kingswear
Located in Outer Hope, the Hope and Anchor is owned and operated by the Cornish brewery, St Austell Brewery. In the summer months, you can enjoy dining outside, and when the weather turns cold, cosy up indoors with a hot beverage. The 18th-century Hope & Anchor is a great little retreat. It has plenty of Devonshire charm and its food and drink options are just as locally inspired. You can always trust the catch of the day to be excellent.
What makes this pub especially great, is the fact that the beach is less than a minute’s walk away. Spend a day paddling in the water, relaxing on the shore, or taking a boat out, before relaxing in the Hope and Anchor and watching the sun set on another beautiful day in South Devon.

Dolium Wine Bar and Tapas, Kingswear
If you fancy sipping an Aperol Spritz overlooking glistening water and the glorious South Hams countryside, then Dolium is a must-visit. This lively Italian establishment is relatively new to the village but is already being dubbed Little Italy in South Devon. Browse the varied cocktail menu over antipasti and while away the hours watching the sun set over neighbouring Dartmouth.

The Dartmouth Arms, Dartmouth
The Dartmouth Arms is a cosy pub located directly across the water from Kingswear on the historic Bayards Cove in Dartmouth. Serving well-kept, local beers and homemade food, this establishment is a firm favourite for those after a more traditional pub in an attractive setting. Draught beers include Exmoor Ales Wicked Wolf, Otter Ale and Sharp’s Atlantic IPA. They also regularly switch up guest ales throughout the year.
