Hope Cove Restaurants

The restaurants in Hope Cove are powered by the spirit and produce of the local area. From smart pods overlooking the harbour to beach cafes, independent hotels with restaurants to a couple of excellent foodie pubs, there are plenty of choices to tickle your tastebuds so book ahead and try a different place every day!

Expect the freshest seafood specials including locally caught fish, mussels, crab and lobster, pizzas, burgers and steaks all locally sourced wherever possible. Serve with some of the best local beers, ciders, speciality locally produced gins and fine wines. Many places offer a takeaway service too so why not pack up a hamper and head to the beach for a little alfresco dining on the sands?

The Cove

Whenever we visit Hope, The Cove is always buzzing! This vibrant pub is just a stone’s throw from the beach and home to one of the best craft beer bars around. This lively bar is popular with both locals and holidaymakers and it’s easy to see why.

Dining out at The Cove is a real treat with Devon moules, burgers, fajitas, excellent fish and chips and their famous seafood platter on the menu… all washed down with a pint of craft beer. Relax on the terrace in the sunshine during the summer months and cosy up by the wood burning stove on dark winter evenings. The Cove is also well known for its live music nights so you can enjoy a toe-tapping evening or get up and boogie!

The Hope and Anchor

Right in the hub of the village, the Hope & Anchor is a stone’s throw from the beach. This St. Austell Brewery traditional pub offers excellent dining and some of the best beer around. The extensive menu is a combo of re-defined pub classics and burgers, from moules and frites, steak and a pork pie ploughmans to fabulous fresh local crab and lobster. There’s also a great kids’ menu serving up sausages, fish goujons and pasta. This dog-friendly hostelry has smart contemporary interiors, a first-floor terrace, and a deck with awesome sea views!

The Lobster Pod Bistro

Sitting just below The Cottage Hotel, the unique Lobster Pod Bistro is a great option if you’re planning on eating out in Hope Cove and looking for somewhere a little different. These stylish enclosed heated pods provide comfortable seating and certainly have the wow factor! Perfect for relaxing with a drink over dinner as the sun sets and dramatic on a windy day when the surf’s up. 

The Pods are extremely popular so it’s best to book beforehand and with a menu of pizza, spider crab, mussels and lobster platters it’s easy to see why! If you miss out on the Pod you can always pick up a takeaway from the extensive menu and picnic on the beach.

The Cottage Hotel Restaurant

Clinging to the hillside this family-run hotel has been in the same family since 1973. For a dining experience with sea views and excellent old-fashioned service, you can rely on The Cottage Hotel. Whether you’re looking for a traditional Sunday lunch, a five-course dinner or a full afternoon cream tea with Champagne on the terrace, this charming hotel ticks all the boxes.

Hope Cove House

This bijoux boutique hotel is a much loved seaside house overlooking the bay at Inner Hope, a stunning location with fabulous views of Bolt Tail. This family run hotel welcomes children and dogs, in fact, there aren’t many places where you’ll find a basket of lego, flip flops and wellies alongside a fine dining menu! 

Relax on the terrace and take in the fabulous sea views or step inside, the cool contemporary interiors come complete with comfortable sofas and a wood burning stove, perfect whatever the weather. So if you fancy anchovies and rosemary oil, clams with chilli and garlic followed by lobster or perhaps just churros with chocolate sauce and a coffee. This is the place to go. Our advice? Book early!

Oceans Restaurant

Oceans Restaurant serves only the freshest, local produce, with all of its fish and meat supplied by Devonshire farmers and fishermen. Guests can choose from a wide variety of delicious dishes ranging from light bites to hearty meals, all paired with an enviable coastal backdrop. Oceans can be found perched on the cliffs of Bolberry Down, just a short drive from Hope Cove. If you fancy working up an appetite, you can walk to Oceans from Hope Cove in around 45 minutes. Dogs are also welcome, making it a great destination for walkers and animal lovers alike.
