The Looking Glass Overview

The Looking Glass sits in a prime location above Dartmouth and the views are spectacular. The lawn catches both morning and evening sun as the sea glistens, plus there’s space for children to play. And the intimate deck is perfect for a romantic dinner.

Interiors are cool and comfortable with a nautical vibe. Step inside and there’s a lovely flow to this luxury holiday home; the large open plan living area occupies the whole of the ground floor, and offers a lovely sociable space for a family to come together for quality time or friends to relax and chat. This multipurpose room means that everyone can join in the fun whether cooking, eating, drinking or relaxing. The clever positioning of the bi-fold doors gives an additional feeling of space and an easy transition to outdoor living providing access to the pretty garden. The raised deck area offers excellent views of both the countryside and the sea, a lovely spot to relax while the kids play to their heart's content.

The style continues into the kitchen area, designed with you in mind, it’s packed with all the latest appliances including cold filtered water on tap, Nespresso machine and a wine fridge. And for the humdrum stuff… (Because we know you have to put on a wash even though you’re on holiday), there’s a utility room and cloakroom with space to hideaway coats and wellies, flip flops and crabbing buckets.

Upstairs the two bedrooms are beautifully appointed; The Castle View Room is elegant and sophisticated with a neutral decor and light oak furniture. This relaxing king size has floor to ceiling windows onto a glass Juliette balcony and the most awesome views over the Dart estuary. It’s the finishing touches which make a space and home and this bedroom is spot on, complete with a walk-in wardrobe for all your holiday gear and smart en suite with a large shower. Moving on to the second bedroom, The Harbour View Room will have kids jumping for joy with cries of ‘aye aye captain’ when they check out this nautical themed room. Accommodation is flexible and the twin beds can make a king size on request. Beautifully presented in ocean blues, this bedroom also has floor to ceiling doors opening up onto a glass Juliette balcony with the most breathtaking views over the river and out to sea.

The family bathroom completes the accommodation, ‘The Big Bathroom’ as it’s called definitely has the wow factor… run yourself a bath and relax in a sea of bubbles and you won’t want to leave! There’s also a large walk in show for a quick spritz to awaken your senses in the morning.

The Looking Glass is in a great location, just a 10 minute walk into historical Dartmouth with its myriad of narrow streets lined with independent boutiques, deli’s, galleries and restaurants. The fish and chips are pretty good too - and we can’t think of a better place to eat sustainable locally caught fish and chips than on a bench in Bayards Cove.
