Whilst it may not be weather for sunbathing, there is still plenty to do in the beautiful coastal town of Salcombe in the depths of winter and over the New Year period. There is of course scrumptious food and fine champagne on offer from the various hotels and restaurants, but what to actually do especially with children?
At New Year itself, most of the townspeople and visitors congregate in the central quay area (Whitestrand) to welcome the New Year before returning to warm homes and drinking establishments to continue the festivities.
And during the daytime, we think there are lots of winter activity ideas for you to enjoy; here are our Top 20:
1. Skim a stone
2. Walk bare foot on the sand
3. Dam a stream on the beach
4. Visit the art galleries on Island Street
